Update - June 8 - Day 34

Barb’s Oncologist has clarified the details of the stem cell bone marrow transplant process. The process will be a relatively simple for Bob, and the actual transplant process will also be reasonably simple for Barb. However, we missed one important step during earlier conversations – Barb will need to have additional Chemo treatment at the University of Minnesota Medical Center prior to the stem cell transplant.

Since we weren’t planning on the additional Chemo – the news is a bit discouraging, but it is apparently a normal step in this type of stem cell transplant. Anyway, we still have a positive attitude and feel fortunate that Barb has access to this process.
About 80 percent of the U of M Med Center rooms have a view of the Mississippi River – so other than the Chemo treatment, depressed immune system treatment, and possible side effects from the transplant, it should be a pleasant experience.
