Update - June 16 - Day 42

The last few days have been a bit anxious for us. Barb’s bone marrow biopsy showed an increase in new cell growth activity. However, the hospital pathologist felt that there was also evidence of Leukemia cells.

Since pathology analysis at this stage of cell recovery is not “black & white”, her Oncologist requested a review of the samples by 2 hematology pathology specialists from the Mayo Clinic and the U of M.
Fortunately, both hematology pathologists thought that the new cell growth was normal. While we still don’t know for sure whether the Leukemia cells are gone for good, we feel that the dark clouds are beginning to part.

Also, Barb’s Oncologist took her off the bone marrow stimulant whose side effects have been disruptive to her sleep, eating and general well being.
